A Relentless Generation

I have to get this off my chest as it has been weighing on me for more than a week, actually ever since I heard the voice of the Spirit in me saying that, ‘God wants this generation to be relentless’. I tried to get it off me by posting a status message on Facebook and received a lot of comments for which I am thankful but it feels like God has more to say to our generation. I wonder how many would listen?

It’s actually 4am and I feel pushed by the Spirit to write this blog to as many as my young and old friends to read. The word is clear again – God wants a relentless generation!
Speaking to some of the older folks, I’ve come to realize that the works of the enemy are now bolder and public. Sin is no more as much shame as it was during Adam’s time or probably how it was even a few decades ago. It has become more public and easier to access. Sin has now arrived  in many deceptive forms and names. Songs have moved from romance to sensuality, from duplicitous reality shows to sinful life-styles, which today is termed as social freedom. Our generation is obviously under a greater attack than ever before but the good news is that the power of God is also greater than ever before and His grace, more evident and stronger in our weakness!

Now, in such a time as this, God wants a relentless generation! Whether to be a good believer or a great leader, it is important that you have a tenacious spirit deep down within you and that Spirit is the same Spirit that was in Jesus. The same Spirit that would make Jesus go and seek the Father, after a whole day’s work. The same spirit that would go seeking after the one lost sheep. The same spirit that would not give up even after the Father would not take away the cup of sufferings from Him. ‘The the spirit of a victor!’.

Let me try listing some things that has bound the children of God these days:

1. False guilt

Now, get me right, a guilty conscience is a good thing. It helps you realize what is wrong and infact, when the Spirit of God comes, He will convict you of sin. But the enemy uses this same thing to bring you down. If you talked with the disciple Peter, he would tell you the same. It made him go back to those old nets that he had once dropped for Jesus. It’s true that sin makes you feel ashamed but if you remain in hiding then you will not be free from it. Expose it to the presence of God. I must have said this a thousand times before, but to see the number of people that will still hide in shame and not be free makes me want to say it again. Someone asked me the other day, ‘won’t God hate me by now?’ My reply to that is this, “God hates sin but loves the sinner”. He does not want you to live in sin. So, the first thing God wants you to do is to expose your sin to God, over and over again, until that sin has no more hold on you. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, keep coming to Him each time and shame the devil!  Allow the love of God to reach out to you now.

2. False belief

Moses kept denying God’s call on his life. He kept saying that he was not the one for the call. He, infact, asked God to use Aaron instead. For some reason, many of us in our generation have been backing out of what God has called us for. Some may deny the fact that God could use someone like you for whatever reason that make you feel unqualified. Instead, you have been running away from the reality of the call of God on your life. If you are reading this, it might be because God wants you to hear his voice again and stand up to what you are called for. Quit trying to be humble when God wants you to do is stand up to the call! Stop waiting for everyone else to do something and stop trying hard not to step on your neighbour’s shoes. Your call WILL make someone upset, jealous and angry. So, if you are going to try and fit into what your friends want than what God wants, I promise you this, you are living a miserable life running away from the call of God. Your very own brothers might tear of your colourful robe and some seniors might throw you in the well but God wants to use some relentless ones. Are you one of them?

3. False fear

Look at Mr. Gideon in the Bible. He was at the wrong place doing the right thing out of fear of the enemy. Fear that had pressed the warrior in him, down to hiding in the winepress. It seemed like, fear had got him squeezed in being ignorant of his call and instead, got him grinding the grains at the winepress. But God had another idea. He looked at the present and called the future out of Gideon. God calls him a mighty man of valour. You will never enter into your calling as long as you belittle yourself. Gideon foolishly defended his stance by saying he is the youngest and the weakest of his tribe but the Lord who brings glory out of nothing is still clear about the call on Gideon’s life. Some of us have been pressed down by the opinions of people. We wonder what people would think and what people would have to say. We look at our capabilities and our circumstances. If you were to use a background search and capability test, most of the leaders in the Bible would have failed.

We must begin to see ourselves through the eyes of God. If He says I can, then I can. God wants us to stop hiding and receive that bold spirit from God that He is willing to pour out on anyone who is ready to stand up to His call. I know that there is going to be a thousand places that I might fall, but I also know this, that I have the spirit of a victor within me and I will get up with the help of the Holy Spirit and run this race till I cross the finish line! What makes a leader different from another is although both fall, the leader will get up and move forward!

Allow me to persuade you, this day, the word from God is clear – God wants this generation to have a relentless, persistent, tenacious spirit!!! So, I don’t care what the enemy has kept you under – shake it off and rise up my friends!!! WE got work to do – few more mountains to conquer!
I’d love to hear your response please leave your comments below.

Blessings,
Shyju

    Brother Shyju,
First of all, I thank you for having the heart of God. Clearly, the Spirit of the Living God lives inside of you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been burdened enough to write an awesome word. Thank you for your honest and heart felt concern for the children of God. Thank you for being bold enough to stand up and tell the truth and SHAME the devil. In order to do the work that needs to be done, I agree we need a relentless, persistent and tenacious spirit!! The enemy has not only kept the world busy in utter confusion, sadly enough, he has crepted into the church getting God’s children caught up in all sorts of ungodly behavior. Thus, keep them from tapping into the power of God within. God’s children need to realize this life isn’t about us and our needs and desires. When we say yes to Jesus, we surrender “self” to Him. God Bless you brother. Keep living HOLY. Your reward in heaven will be great!

This is an outstanding word. I thank you for your obedience. God has called us to go higher in Him and to get over people. It is time to stand up and to be fortified in the word and to be steadfast and unmovable. It is time to be bold and assertive just as the enemy is. We possess a greater Power and that is the Spirit of the Living God and there is no power that can match it. Awesome word. I receive it in Jesus Name.

thank you.. that second point hit me real hard.. am at a very critical point to make a decision.. what you said are the same words coming to me again n again .. i dono if i been running away from it..been so desparate to know whether or not it is Gods will that i stay wher i stand rite now or i be moving on.. with the circumstance now, the pressure is too exhausting n way overwhelming on all sides pushing me to move on.. but convictions like what you just quoted in your point ‘false belief’ make me contemplate even more.. please do say a word of prayer for me..jus dont wana miss any part of Gods plan for my life..

    God bless you more..

  • Cinderalla

    Praise the Lord,
Thanks for this message, well i got something as i was reading this again & again, well you are right when we all go through some of this false belief, false faith , false fear, these all happens only when we are not totally into Gods heart, i mean when Gods heart is in our soul God becomes everything to us, every min is God,
Today when the Christianity is being spread around the world, it is spreading in a wide range, when it is to be spread & DEEP ROOTED, which is missing,
people have taken God in a fast-food dispensed for easy consumption( where no chewing is necessary)by seeking only what they want not what they really need,or what God really wants
The example of peter was good, that really brings to mind another point, We all are sinners & all have done something or the other in human mind Sinning against God .Peter was Gods close friend, & the same Judas was also a friend of God, both peter & Judas betrayed Christ in different way by denying him and betraying God, but Jesus said and knew what was in their mind & what they will do,
Peter regretted his fault & cried, he choose to love God & ask for forgiveness because he knew god was a forgiving God & God used him and called him the Rock
Judas too sinned against Jesus but he choose to Die, he never experienced the grace of God & his forgiveness,
both were guilty of something but one choose to ask and seek his face by confessing & crying to God the other choose to run away from him & allow the Satan to win him, when he could have asked for forgiveness with our forgiving God,
So we all are like them sinner and thief, but its our choice whether we choose to totally follow God or take him like a fast food only when we need in times …
the first step away from God is the friendship with the world ,which brings all the fears automatically,

Now a days generations is doing the same things the people of isreal were doing turning away from God even though they had seen his works, this puts something in my mind
when God said several times to the Israelites to destroy all the things from the promised land, they were to inherit, but they left few still, they possessed the land promised by God but they never inherited the hand completely, until Davids time,
so sometimes what happens is when God heals us & asked us not to turn back to the things that were not pleasing to God we as human beings tend to keep all the bad memories in us which someday will start ruling us & bringing that back, which the devil will use on us that is the reason God again and again told the Israelites to destroy the Canaanites totally including the wealth,
we too should destroy everything in us, hate, anger, past bad memories, guilt , lying tongue, arguing … burn them as a living sacrifice to God , so that the devil will not have anything to throw at us,

I heard KC Kapaska once said The devil is not so intelligent to use you as his tool, God made us little above the devil , so its our choice again weather we give way for him to rule us or we rule him with the strength of God,
The sin in our lives if we fail to conquer will eventually conquer us,
Our God is a God who controls the past & the future,
when we forget the word of God we are in danger of forsaking God of the word
thats why God sometimes permits things to happen in our life for us to learn from our mistake & lean on him all the time,
    Thanks
God Bless you more and more

I have a great calling on my life that has been revealed. The warrior in me says I can do it yet there is a dread of revealing to those who feel threatened (my unsaved husband) and the reaction from my church as it is outside the four walls. I focus all the time on “the church are the people”.

I know as witness to the birth and sustaining of the ladies prison ministry that, God makes it easy when it is His will. I claim now that I have the church’s blessing and that they will release me.

Your words Shyju have been encouraging today – yes we will come up against opposition in being relentless to spread the Word of Jesus. Pray my steel coated armour to be in place against satan’s sneaky and cowardly ploys to undermine this child of God. Thank you and God Bless.

I’ve always felt low of myself, bothered what would others think when I do what they have been doing. And whenever my pastor asks me to do something I give all the excuses I can. In fact today morning my pastor gave me a new responsibility and I was trying to evade knowing that I am not qualified for that ministry. I now realised that I have to boldly stand up when God wants to honour me and give me added responsibility.

I agree. We must relent to the holy spirit in our lives to be effective witnesses and ambassadors for Christ. Holiness is the key. May a fresh move of God saturate our entire beings and whisper into our hearts….GO!
