My greatest desire would be to bear fruit for my Master in His will. I believe that is the cry of every tree planted by the Master, to bear fruit, much fruit for the Master. Yet even out of the bearing much fruit comes crushing blows that sometimes threaten to shake our very foundation of faith in God’s love for us. If that is you, don’t you move from this page till you are done with this post because I believe this word is for you – a lesson from the olive.

Uniquely, a hot growing season is required to ripen the fruit of the olive tree. Proudly, the trees survive and fruit well even with considerable neglect of the dry climate. Somewhere around the end of October, just when the hot climate turns to pleasant, the olives are ready to be plucked by their Master. The hot season has turned the olive fruits into their full green hue and they have grown into the fullest size. The olives are then washed to eliminate the impurities and every other small strange thing that could hinder the purity of its purpose! Thorough cleaning and hand picking among tons of olives to discard unwanted ones and foreign objects is another painstaking step that makes the olive oil so special.

After it is washed, the Master takes them to the stone mill to be crushed by huge stones. Before long, all the green full-sized olive fruits are crushed into mere paste before it is further introduced to the pressing machine. The resulting olive paste is then mixed and the process of separation begins. After which, it is left alone to rest to separate the watery part of olives from the oil which begins to flow, by now.

This olive oil, also called as liquid gold, starts its life not in the bottle but at the crushing and pressing of its beautiful self.

Truth be told, it is not the pleasant familiar situations of life that makes us strong but the breaking and the crushing of life that brings the best out of us. The more we struggle to surrender the more difficult, we make it for ourselves.

I remember counseling someone who was going through a time of tough rejection in life and telling that they had 2 options. The first, he could come out of this problem angry, bitter and difficult to deal with. The other, he could surrender to the hands of God and allow God to then polish him and fill him with wisdom, for further purposes of God.

Being human, there are times when I stand at the door of decisions where I flinch for a second and come up with questions like, ‘Why Lord? Why this? Why me? How could you?’, just to be reminded by the Holy Spirit about the pressing that brings the best of what is within us. I then try to replace these questions with a thankful heart and say, ‘God you are faithful, you know better than me, help me get through this too, help me praise and worship you like Job in the Bible.’

Speaking to a young girl who was blamed wrongly for her mother’s sickness, she mentioned how all the insults and pain had brought great change in her character. As she took the hurt into the presence of God, the Spirit of God brought great humility into her heart. Crushing not only changes your heart but when surrendered, it polishes you into a precious pearl. [ClickToTweet]

Like it is seen about the women in the New Testament, the breaking of the alabaster box allowed the aroma to spread beyond the house. Standing between God and man I’ve felt the pressure of seeing many unanswered broken families and situations. All I know from my personal experience is that as we lift those unanswered situations to God in worship, there is much that God will bring out of it beyond what our minds can fathom.

Notice this, 430 years of slavery led to the anointed Moses being born. Further, 400 years of silence from God between Malachi and Matthew brought forth the birth of Jesus. Your brokenness and helplessness is leading to the birth of an anointing and a purpose you have never experienced before! So, why not surrender into full-hearted worship right away?

Here’s a verse, I’ll leave you with that holds my life’s reins in my greatest need. Notice specifically, He is the ever-present help!

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; He lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Psalm 46:1-7

Question: What’s your experience of being crushed and what verse helps you the most?

Experience :physically- broken, torn apart, let down, tears, pain , no answers, why ?, why me ?, where is the justice
mentally- before prayer in the situation confused after prayer a complete rest, only to depend on God.
spiritually- drawn very close to God. feel the anointing experience over my life in a powerful way, so sensitive to His voice that it is almost audible…….a very strong presence of God and the assurance that God has all the answers and true to His faithfulness he answers every why and why me in His time.
Scripture that is a life line in such circumstances:Psalm 121,Engraved me in the Palm of His Hands,Apple of His eyes, Ebenezer, Restorer of all the time that locusts have eaten away and that He is watching over me no matter what. Knows me even before I was created in my Mother’s womb etc

Today I underwent a very embarrassing and humbling situation. But the verse I recieved today morning was “I will do a new thing”. After the situation I asked God how He could do a new thing through something so humiliating. But now I realise. Our God is an awesome God !!!

    Hi Brother Shyju,
read your blog was awesome, and i have few thoughts to share with may be you would have come across in your life in may things
i have seen Gods hand in our lives not only in little thing, but in every little things that we come across in our life,
when we see the old testament we see that God was in the same place the first time he called us, and he was in the same place he called us the second time, and still in the same place he called us the third time, it is we who move away from him and search for him in the darkness, where he is not there, we have to seek him above all the pain, suffering, pain, frustration, seek him in the heavenly, not in the worldly,
he is the one who is searching us and finding us everyday, while we wander away from the work, and get lost in the world and in our self desires
when i was reading judges i saw how many time God sold his people to his enemies, for then to learn a lesson, and then turn from idols and seek him alone, but its the people who always did what was pleasing to them, not to God,
but every time people called out to him he was and is still faithful to answet every call he gets,
he sometimes makes the heaven silent just to listen to us, alone and be satisfied, but we are all so selfish, that we see out pain, our suffering, pur trouble, but when we start loving and seeking God in every little and big thigs we will stay happy in every way, there will always be a reason for us to praise him,
i was not surprised to see the life of saul and david, both were anointed by God, but one was pleasing th epeople, and the other was pleasing God, and though both sinned against God in many ways we see that one always came to God for fosgiveness and help
so we have to be in him all the time, in our laugh, in out jokes, in our walk, in our talks, make him our best friend and than we will see the difference God can do in our lives,

we cannot balance the earthy with heavenly, we cannot live for the world and for God, we will be hurt, and go through pain

when we go through pain and suffering we have to just see where we are standing, are we standing along with God, or are we away from him, if we are with him that means he is teaching us or saying us somehing to rest us,

i see the life of Christ, even when he was betrayed he gave them hope, and gave all his hurts to God, above in heaven
when he was about to be crucifued, he was having a heavy heart, burdened, but still he said god is it is in your will take this cup away from me, but your will be done,
so when we go through things hurtfull we have to just pray and seek him and say God your will be done just strengthen me to bear the pain, if its from you,

God has taugth me good lesson while i was still, in my work place, while i was travelling, while i talk to someone i dont know, but in every little and big things we can feel the presence of God
i have learnt a lot of lesson from cooking, ironing clothes, watering plants, gardening, cleaning, stitching, and seeing many people in our lives we atill have something to know about the grace of God in one way or the other

For example, when i wash my clothes, and then dry them, and then iron them, it may be a daily task, but i saw my life in every little things i did, when the clothes are durty we dont ware them but instead we wash the chothes, than dry, not too much, but to the needed temperature, and then iron the crinklied dress
so in our life too, when we have durty ideas, bad memories, hate anger, frustration, and many things which is not from God and not pleasing to God, we should allow God to wash us, with his blood, so that we may be clean, and then dry not comes the real part, God has to put the needed pressure in order to get the crinkles out, if the heat is too low, the clothes may not be neately ironed to ware tham out, if the heat is too much the dress may burn, and will be of no use,
So God knows how to take away the rincles away from our life, the rinckle are the drepression, frustration, doubt, and things that are human and natural, so though we are believers, washed by the blood of God, still we have to rincles in us behind, so when God irons us it is hurtful painful, but once our life is ironed we are perfect for him to use us in his party,
sometimes we may feel why me, why pain only to me, we face the ironing heat on us because God is ironing us to be a perfect dress for his party, and we have to bear it for soemtime,
so like this i see God in everything, sometimes cooking, sometimes working and experienceing many friens,

so recently i was planning to have a garden , and when i was so happy to plant many veriety of seeds, and then i plowed the farm, anen cleaning the ground by removing the stones, and unwanted things, then i planted the seeds, and watered them everyday, and all of a sudden i fell sick and wasnot able to take care of the garden i loved, with little good shoots proturding our of the soil, soon after a couple of days i saw that my garden did nto look the way i kept, it was all sorts of weeds, which had over took my plants and garden, it took more than 4 weeks for my to claen, and my garden went to a waste, and still i feel so sad to see my garden in a waste condition, which looked so awesome in one time
Only then i realixed about the word of God, that he is our gardener, and how much he will take care of our lives, cleaning the waste in us, keeping us away from the weeds, ( worldly things and satan) washing us, and watering us ( with his holy spirit) and taking care of us every min,
that is when i got this verse john 15, God is the Gardener, and Christ is the true Vine, and we are the branches,
when God is our Gardener we will be in his control and we willl be taken good care off
but when we start to leave the weeds to grow in our lives, to over take us, and allow ll the painful old memories, hurts, unforgiveness, frustration anger, hate, and many like this to over take us, we are blocking the gardener to do his work,
i saw an lady neighbor who used to prun her plants she said that she did that so that the plant will grow beautiful and that the plant will look good and bear good fruits
so i was thinking the bible says that A TREE IS KNOWS BY ITS FRUIT in matthew 12:33,
here i saw that God is our perfect gardener who takes care of the garden , Christ is the true vine and we are the brancles, so what does God do he pruned all the dry leaves from the trees, and kept the enviornment perfect for the plant to bear good fruit,, the pruning is hard, it will peal the skin our, and leave a scar to the surrounding, but if we see to the pain we will not see the good fruit in our life
only the gardener can identify what activities in our lives are waste of time and need to be cleaned , so he does his work, it is whan we are in struggling, or i doubt why me lord, but we forget to understand that hs is taking away the waste from us
this s when he sees the testing of our faith in him weather we give our life to him and sit beak and wait for him to do his work or run away for safty because it hurts is

only when God is successfully pruned us with his word and has caused our crops to flurish by what results what we reap the good fruit,

like this i have learnt a lot from each day from each different ways and ways of God, i have gone through many struggle, pain, suffering, and yes doubt sometime, but all i know is words of my dad and the living word which has always filled me with hope, faith in him, and a reason that God is saying something that its time for me to just listen to him rather than just grumbling again and again, to find an answer, that is the time of testing our faith, weather we trust in out ouwn strength or on God

    thank you
    In christ

    Hey Shy..

As always i would say.. thanks for this message its a blessing. So true. Well before even I used to question God and sometimes i still do..when i remember some situations and problems but Then i say to myself, “No matter what the situation, he has something BEST in store for me and my future”.
And this message teaches us that if we are going through tough times its just that God is molding us and that we are like precious pearls in his hands.
Also we need to surrender our lives to JESUS and let him work and fulfill his will in us. And the outcome would be the BEST.

What threatened to crush me, is my regret over a foolish choice. My only consolation, being; the belief that God can use even my detours and take me back on the road, in His great mercy.

When I fall because of sin this verse always encourages me.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
    Romans 8:28

So no matter what the devil throws at me, God promised that it HAS to work our for MY BENEFIT. The devil is only being used to strengthen us because you can never build muscle without resistance. Thank God for the 5 letter word called GRACE!

    Kingdom Blessings,
