This seems to be  a highly controversial topic in the modern day church, as there are acclaimed scriptural references as to why it  should not be. However  it is imperative that while understanding  this, we need to remove the spirit of ignorance and insecurity out of the equation and in an unbiased way look at the Bible in determining the answer. A lot of people fail to realise that the Bible is not only a spiritual text but it’s also a historical text that must be analysed very carefully.

Firstly, one of the most  regularly quoted  scripture that references against the practice of women preachers is found in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church”.

Now if this scripture is taken literally, this would mean that women are not to speak in church under any circumstances. That would result in women not being allowed to pray, worship or give testimonies in church and that seems a bit  unusual, especially since in another verse Paul mentions “But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth…” (1 Corinthians 11:5). This leads us to conclude that there is a deeper issue here than what meets the eye.

Looking at the spirit of the chapter in which the former verse is written, we can see  that Paul was talking about having divine order in the church. Now, according to religious traditions prevalent during those days, it customary  for men and women  to sit separately on either sides in  the church.  Evidently, women in the Corinthian church were calling out to their husbands on the other side  during services, thus causing much confusion.

Also, women normally in those days were not students of the law and were not allowed to go to the synagogue to get teaching, so it was only their husbands who were educated of the law.Consequently, in response to the confusion, Paul administers a word of discipline to the women stating that they should ask their questions at home in order to avoid interrupting the meetings. Another scripture popularly quoted  is 1 Timothy 2:11-12 (Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence). Some interpret this passage to mean that a woman should never teach in a church, which is wrong . In interpreting this verse, it is important to remember that the Greek words for “man” and “husband,” as well as the words for “woman” and “wife,” are the same.

So with that knowledge, we can see that context of the scripture shows that Paul is speaking about divine order in the home rather than order of ministry. What Paul is stating for all intents and purposes, is that the woman should remain submissive under her husband  and that she must not manipulate or “usurp” the authority given to him in the household. This is because God has issued man as the head and the priest of the home. Of course, a man who is not a believer is not equipped to lead his household in the way of the Lord and the responsibility sometimes falls on the wife through default. However, God’s divine order is for the husband to lead his family in spiritual things and he is able to do this properly only to the degree he is submitted to the Lordship of Jesus in his own life.

The Bible is replete with scriptural references showing women in leadership and ministerial positions. One example in the Old Testament is of a young Jewish girl by the name of Esther (a basic “rags to riches story”), we  see that by the favour of God on her life she was able to be Queen (2nd in ranking) over an entire nation for the sole purpose of the deliverance of Israel (Esther 4:14).

While in the New Testament, we see women such as Priscilla (Acts 18:24-36), who taught Apollos alongside with her husband. It is interesting to note that when she is mentioned in Romans 16:3, her name is placed before her husband’s which indicates the importance of her ministry.

Then there is Pheobe who Paul describes as a “servant of the church” which comes from the Greek word, “diakonon”, meaning “deaconess.” In Romans 16:2, he calls her a “succourer of many,” which comes from the Greek word, prostatis, meaning “overseer, one who has been given spiritual authority over others.” It is evident that Paul was not opposed to women in the ministry, for he says in Philippians 4:3 “Greet those women who laboured with me in the Gospel”.

In conclusion, God commissioned both men and women to preach the gospel but because of improper research and incorrect Biblical interpretation, this commission cannot then become one-sided.

In fact, the focus should be placed more on the message than the messenger.

This is what I’ve been trying to say for a long time. I left a church once because women were only allowed to be nursery workers…no one could teach “big” people Sunday school. It has always been my feeling that God doesn’t save people to sit on the sidelines. The last time I looked the fields are ripe to harvest and many workers are needed. Great article.

    • http://twitter.com/musiqchild007 Jherrel Peters

      You’re absolutely right.

God didn’t save you to simply to sit by the wayside singing songs and hymns waiting for His return. Always remember that women are the female expression of God and when God anoints you, he anoints your spirituality NOT your sexuality. So that feeling that “there is something more” is not imagined or isn’t simply just a hunch, God is speaking to you and calling you higher than what culture has already pre-determined. Go for it! :)

  • Frances Purrier

Awesome! Lots of people are just stuck on what Paul was saying to the church at Corinth. Even when you take English comprehension, it teaches you to find out who said it, why they said it, and also the time in which they said it, all those factors play a part in finding out a thing. We read one thing a make it Law and never delve into what was really going on. I am reposting this to facebook and twitter in hopes to get more attention to this, because lots of older people can learn from this. Not that younger people don’t feel they same way, this could very well be the deliverance lots of woman need to go forth. This is very powerful, thank you for taking the time to write this. Can you say…..PRINTER, yes I am printing this out. Stay Blessed :)

Thanks Frances. Thats exactly what I felt when Jherrel submited this post. Not that we have not come a long way for good. Yet there are some people who are confused about what the truth is. I hope this helps them.

Hi Jherrel- The article is definitely on point. I want to add by simply exhorting Christian women. Christian women, you have a God given destiny for your life. The Holy Spirit has given you spiritual hunger for the kingdom of God. Do not permit yourself to be silenced by gender prejudice in the Christian church. Knowledge of the scriptures is imperative so that no person can silence your anointing, gifts and talents given to you by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As for the Christian men or women who misinterpret the Scripture to mean that women should not preach, know that there is more than enough Christian ministry work for all the body of Christ. This is not about having dominance or power over men. Every Christian needs to flow in the Holy Spirit to bring the kingdom of God to earth. To condemn women preachers and women church workers is a serious offense, because God has stamped His approval on them by His Spirit over and over again, and who are we to fight against the Spirit of God?

    • http://twitter.com/musiqchild007 Jherrel Peters

haha! Great Kellie! Couldn’t have said it better myself! There’s enough unbelievers in the world to around, we men can’t be selfish now… ;)

Thanks for your great insight on this matter, God bless!

Great post. Was very well thought out and argued.

I honestly thought that people stopped thinking about that women should not preach simply because of Joyce Meyer, an incredibly humble servant of God, whose ministry is helping and winning the souls of the lost. It is important to note that before she had a ministry, she always used to volunteer or the Holy Spirit will lead her to speak but the church she was in at that time, the pastor did not like it and said that her husband Dave Meyers should preach. She explained that Dave was very unhappy doing it because it was NOT his calling to be a teacher and because of this “ignorant” spirit the Jherrel pointed out earlier, which the pastor had, they left the church. Now because of that huge step of faith and total DEPENDENCE on God, Joyce Meyer is where she is today.
I am so glad this is here because in the Catholic church only men can become priests and not women even though there are women who are used by God in the church in a mighty way in different ways.
Therefore this blog confirms what the scripture says, “For I know the plans I have you, plans of peace and to give you an expected end” Jeremiah 29:11. We need to stop limiting God and Be still and know that He is God so that He can use whoever He wishes in a mighty way.

      • http://twitter.com/musiqchild007 Jherrel Peters

Thanks for your input Letita! May God give us all the anointing to break the cultural barriers that hold this generation oppressed. We can do it, we’re more than able! :D

For all the confused lot out there and adamant people thinking if a woman really should preach in the church, this is the answer. There are still people who crib or criticize if a woman preaches, let this be an eye opener. I am gonna share this with my friends.

Amazing and timely post Jherrel, this is a message that the church and her leaders today need to hear. We should stop taking a verse and making a doctrine out of it! God created Man and Woman equal. (Gen 1:26-27) Man ruling over woman was part of the curse! (Gen 3:16) Through Jesus we are free of it!! Women can and should pursue every calling and spiritual office that Men have!! Bless you bro!

    • http://twitter.com/musiqchild007 Jherrel Peters

Thank you Priji…but if we were to get REALLY into this from out of the book of Genesis we would note some things, namely this:

      1. God never called Eve “Eve”.

      2. When God called out to “Adam”, both the man and the woman showed out. To be more clear about this look at Gen. 5:2
[Gen 5:2 - Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam]

Now examining closely Gen. 2, could it not be possible that when God created WOman, he took the DNA construction of a man (it should be noted that the word “rib” used in the KJV does not mean bone in the Hebrew) and out of his DNA he extracted a cell. Within th e DNA construct, there is everything in that invisible program that makes you who you are. It determines you hair, eyes, color of your skin, length of your hair…everything. So God went into the DNA construction of a man, pulled out this cell determining who he was, went BACK to the dirt and he created a house which was basically the essence of the woman. And if the essence of the woman was taken out of the man, that means that she was ALL that man was except for the housing of the man.

      Food for thought eh? ;)

Thankyou for writing this article Jherrel. Some of my friends in the ministry would often pick up a fight with me about women being allowed to preach/teach in church. And yes they would first quote 1 Cor 14:34-35.

Although some of the matter was already known to me, your article has helped me to understand how to answer with sound doctrine.

    God Bless you,
    -Oscar

  • Sidharth

    Good job!

As you said, Scripture reveals the involvement of women in the prophetic ministry (Acts 2:17; 1 Cor 11:5), in leadership as apostles (Romans 16:7) and deaconess’ (Romans 16:1). Therefore, we clearly know that Paul isn’t inhibiting women from using their gifts in an assembly.

As you have pointed out context is very important. Something I’d like to add to the context is that Corinth, Ephesus and Crete were centers of worship of goddesses. The goddess Venus was worshipped in Corinth, while the goddess Diana in Ephesus (where Timothy ministered) and Crete. And according to their beliefs, a woman was considered superior to man. If you notice, Paul has had to face this issue of violation of divine order in the very place where these beliefs were a stronghold (Corinth and to Timothy). Paul is specifically referring to boisterous wives who lorded over their husbands. His purpose isn’t to prevent the women from using their gifts, but to restore order in house (The same reason 1 Corinthians 11 is written).

“Silent” again as you have said, is not in it’s absolute terms. Paul uses the same terminology in 1 Corinthians 14:28, where he instructs those who have the gift of tongues (but where there is no one who has the gift to interpret) to remain silent and speak in tongues to themselves and God.

Hope this adds to the truth you are building. Blessings!

In the end, the two spirits would be so close as to decieve even the very elect.
Very identical and do the same things, the only difference is one is 100% truth and the other is 99%. I would say to you all take God at his word not what you would have or what you like, that way you can never go wrong. Its not what appeals to you or what makes you happy it has to be God’s way or you are lost.
If God placed rulership of the woman to the man in the beginning and says I am the same yestarday , tomorow and forevr he means it to this day otherwise why would the christian woman still suffer birth pains.
So a woman exercising authority over a man, preaching the word of God is in 99% truth

How can a Woman be a leader and a head of God’s house when by Godly design a woman is not  even head of the home? This is contradictory. God doesn’ t contradict his word.

    • http://www.pastorpriji.com Priji

There is no contradiction here but I think u have misunderstood the Word. We often confuse Headship with roles and responsibilities! Man is the head in the Family but Christ is the head of the church and we all have equal roles and responsibilities with the body! God’s original design in the garden of eden was that both the Man and woman would be leaders and exercise their authority over the creation! It was sin that changed it! Which is now redeemed through Jesus Christ!

    • http://twitter.com/musiqchild007 Jherrel Peters

Women are not here to compete with man, they’re here to complete man. What you are confusing is the assignment with purpose…2 very different things. A woman is not assigned to be the head of a home, a man is. However it can be purposed for a woman to be a leader. Please read the story of Deborah, she was a judge (a leader) yet she still maintained her submission to her husband at home.

Remember that God does not anoint our sexuality, He anoints our spirituality. There are a significant amount of women in ministry who have done outstanding things for the Kingdom, things that only GOD could have done through them. Imagine if they believed that women are not meant to be leaders, what would be the progress of Christianity today? (eg. Kathryn Kuhlman from out of her womb many preachers sprang forth most notably Benny Hinn who in turn inspires many evangelists including Evg. Shyju Mathew. Are you seeing the rippling effect of this “woman”?)

Re-read this blog post because your question is already answered in there WITH corresponding Biblical history and scriptural references.

      Blessings.

  • KrystaSarah

This is why YOU WILL become someone GREAT in ministry. (and since our words hold power, i say this will all confidence and i leave it in the atmosphere and i will pray so that it will COME TO PASS) God will Bless those who serve him faithfully, and YOU my twin, has served God faithfully and even more! Keep up the good work and don’t ever stop… Love you alot Jhells! :D

  • Giles235

First of all, let me begin by saying that you are somewhat correct in your post. Women are not barred from preaching. However, in those instances where a man is available and has been commissioned by God to impart the word to the congregation, the woman must step aside. For who was made first, the man or the woman? The man is supposed to be head of the household. That includes God’s house. However, if there is no man worthy of standing in the gap to fulfull the position of “pastor” then all praise be to God who is the Alpha and the Omega if he uses a woman.  The problem comes in when the woman places herself in the pastoral role and begins to command the men who are worthy of filling that position.

Amazing bro! I wish some of the other denominations (which I don’t wanna mention!!) could UNDERSTAND the CALL OF GOD on woman too and thus, allow them to break forth to their respective CALLINGS IN THEIR LIFE!!

There are many woman whom I personally know, who are bound by these IRRELIGIOUS AND INCORRECT DOCTRINE in their churches and are NOT LIVING THE CALL OF GOD which they KNOW is from GOD! I wish they would leave their denominational differences and truly believe, what you wrote: :   “In fact, the focus should be placed more on the message than the messenger.”I wish and so pray, that GOD would make a way for them to just follow GOD than man… and in the long run the CHURCHES TO EXPERIENCE OVERALL ONCE MORE – A REVOLUTION!!!!P.S: really enjoyed the blog, please keep up the good work!RegardsTanya Chandran

    God has never
called a women to preach the gospel and never will, But there are some churches
that teach that God called women to preach, and that is a lie. When a woman
preaches she is in sin. The word of God tells us for a women to have a meek and
quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of a great price. (1 Peter 3:3)

    There is no where
in the bible that God used a women in the form of preaching,or to be a leader
over his church. So where did women preachers come form? (MEN) Men have put
women in leadership roll, But we must realize what God has estabish for his
    church will not be changed.

    So let us go to
the bible (The Word of God) and see how God feels about women preachers.

(ECCLESIASTES) 7:27-28, Behold, this have I found, saith the preacher,
counting one by one, to find out the account;(28) Which yet my soul seeketh,
but I find not; One man among a thousand have I found; but a (women) among all
those have I not found. (Even King Solomon did not find any  Women
    Preachers in his day)   (ISAIAH)
3:12, As for my people, children are their oppressors, and (Women) rule
over them.O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the
way of thy paths. (The Prophet Isaiah  declared; if a woman leads you, she will cause
you to err, and you will be destroyed, ( Only Weak And Unlearned Men Will
Follow Women Preachers)  ( ISAIAH) 9
    :16-17, For the leaders
of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed. ( 17)
Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men neither shall have mercy
on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an (hypocrite) and an
(evildoer) and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned
away, but his hand is stretched out still. (Everyone that sits
under women preachers are hypocrites and evil-doers, according to what the word
    of God says)

    (1
    CORINTHIANS) 14:33-35, For God
is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches os the
saints.(34) Let your (Women) Keep silence in the churches; for it is not
permitted unto them to speak; but they are (commanded) to be under obedience,
as also saith the law.(35) And if they will Learn any thing, Let them ask their
husbands at home; for it is a (shame) for (Women) to speak in the church.

(1 TIMOTHY) 2:11-15, Let the (Women) learn in silence with all
subjection.(12) But I suffer not a (Women) to (teach) nor to usurp authority
over the man, but to be in silence. (13) For Adam was first formed, then
Eve.(14) And Adam was not deceived, but the (Women) being deceived was in the
transgression.(15) Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they
continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. Therefore, the
Bible illustrates that a woman should not teach nor preach according to the
above scriptures!!!!!!!!  ( Again I Say No Women Preachers)

    “This
is a true saying, if a man desires the office of a bishop, he desireth a good
work.  A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant,
sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach.” Verse 4-7
says, ” one that ruleth well his own house, having his children in
subjection with all gravity; for if a man knows not how to rule his own house,
how shall he take care of the church of God? Not a novice, lest being lifted up
with pride he fall into  the condemnation of the devil.  Moreover he
must have a good report of them which are without lest he fall into reproach
and the snare of the devil.” (Timothy 3:1-2)

    This scripture
plainly demonstrates that a woman can not be a bishop.  The scripture says
a bishop must be the husband of one wife.  It did not say the wife of one
husband.  Also,  this scripture states “he desireth a good
work”.  Therefore, a woman is not a “he” but a
“she”.   This scripture emphasizes that a woman can not
preach.  However, there are times that they can teach.  “That
they may teach the young women to be sober, and to love their husbands, to love
their children, to be discreet, chaste keeper at home, good, obedient to their
own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed (Titus 2:4-5).  Women
can do many things in the church, but preaching is not one of them according to
the Bible.  Some say that Mary preached the first message in St. Matthew
28th chapter.  The Bible does not validate that.  “And the angel
answered and said unto the women fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus,
which was crucified.  He is not here: for He has risen as He said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay.  And go quickly, and tell
His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and, behold, He goeth before you
into Galilee; there shall you see him lo, I have told you.  (Matthew 28:5-7)
Many say that Mary Magdalene carried the first preached word.  Many based
their authority from St. Matthew 28:7, “and go quickly, and tell . . .
“, however, “tell” is not preaching.  Mary Magdalene only
carried a message to say “that He has risen from the dead; and, behold, He
goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him lo, I have told you”
(Matthew 28:7)  Finally, Mary did NOT preach,.  She
only relayed a message from Jesus. Despite what is written in the
bible and proclaimed by God’s word, unlearned and weak men are busy ordaining
women as Evangelists, Pastors, Elders and Bishops, and they standing as head of
churches are leading men and other women to destruction.

(The Difference Between Prophesing And Preaching)

    (ACTS) 2:16-17 But
this that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;(17) And it shall come to pass
in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and
your sons and your daughters shall (Prophesy) and your young men shall see
visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

    Many people have
been deceived in thinking that (Prophesing) and (Preaching) are the same.
Prophesing simply means the foretelling of a envent that is to come.It is given
to (Women) to (Prophesy) But not to (Preach)

    On the day of
Pentecost Peter did some preaching, he referred back to the prophet Joel, to
give everyone understanding that prophecy was being fullfilled.

So What Is Preaching? Preaching is when a True Man
of God, who have been called and sent by God to interperted and brake down
scriptures, by the wisdom of God, for the people. Only through the Spirit
of God ( The Holy Ghost) can this be accomplish.                                                                                                                            Can A Woman Be A Deacon?

     No
a woman can not be a Deacon, and the title Deaconess, We can’t even find
in the bible. Thats right, there is no where in the bibie that a woman used the
office of a Deacon, and none of the Apostles ordain women as (Deacons) or
(Deaconess) But in these false Churches we find Men laying hands on some
woman and ordaining her some little (Deacon) Or (Deaconess) A
Deacon is a leader, one that works close with the Elders and Bishops, We can
find in the book of (ACTS) When the Apostle first appointed Deacons
for the Church (ACTS)-Chapter 6. 1-7 the bible says; And in those days, when the
number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians
against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily
ministration. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them,
and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve
tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest
report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this
business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry
of the word. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose
Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus,
and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: Whom
they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands
on them. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples
multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were
obedient to the faith. (The Apostles did’nt appointed seven (women) but
seven (Men) of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom.  ”Qualifications Of
    Deacons”  (TIMOTHY)  3: 8-13;Likewise
must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not
greedy of filthy lucre;Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon,
being found blameless. Even so must their (wives) be grave, not
slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the (deacons) be the “husbands
of one wife” ruling their children and their own houses well. For
they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good
degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. ( My
reader the scriptures clearly demonstrates that a (woman) can not be a
deacon, and to you that believe otherwise ,your less than righteous)

I am very hard-pressed to believe that you took the time to  write all of this so I think this is copied and pasted from somewhere, lol. Firstly, many of these verses are taken TOTALLY out of it’s context used in the passages, too many to list out and explain in one comment and many of your statements are refuted by the article in itself. One of the first lessons taught in a seminary is the difference between “exegesis” and “eisegesis”. “Exegesis” is an attempt to discover the meaning of the text objectively, starting with the text and moving out from there. “Eisegesis” is to import a subjective, preconceived meaning into the text. In a seminary, you are taught to interpret the Scriptures through “exegesis” alone. The word “exegesis” comes from a Greek word meaning “to lead out”. as I have said, you start with the text and draw out its meaning.  Eisegesis, on the other hand, is when you start with an idea or conviction, then search for verses in the Bible to prove your point. The danger in this is that we can take verses out of context to support just about any point of view. (Sidenote –  Cults use eisegesis to justify their beliefs)Start with God’s Word; pray that the Spirit gives you clarity; then study to see what the test actually says…not what someone else wrote.

I do not deny the importance of men in leadership and that God PREFERS to have male leaders. However it is without a shadow of a doubt that God calls females in to leadership positions concerning the aspect of preaching. Even then you would also discover that these same said women HAVE male coverings. A personal favorite, Dr. Cindy Trimm who is an international preacher and perhaps one of the most powerful female preacher I know is under the covering of Dr. Bill Winston (another pastor). She has said that she understands that as a woman she respects the role of men and women and by virtue of that fact is in NEED of a male covering. So yes, I do not deny that there is a need for male covering for ANY woman in ministry.
Women are not here to compete with men, they’re here to complete men. What you are confusing is the assignment with purpose…2 very different things. A woman is not assigned to be the head of a home, a man is. However it can be purposed for a woman to be a leader. Please read the story of Deborah, she was a judge (a leader) yet she still maintained her submission to her husband at home.Remember that God does not anoint our sexuality, He anoints our spirituality. Are you seeing the rippling effect of this “woman”?) Re-read this blog post because your question is already answered in there WITH corresponding Biblical history and scriptural references.

Yes, yes, yes.  Adam was made FIRST.   If you read the creation account in Genesis, you will see that after everything that God made, He called it GOOD.  “…..and God saw that it was good.”  UNTIL we get to Adam—before the fall, before sin, the ONLY thing in ALL of creation that God said was NOT good—-it is NOT GOOD for man to be alone . . .So woman, my dear friends, was the SOLUTION to everything wrong with creation.;D

The verses previous to 1 Tim 2 :11-12, verses 9 & 10 also talk about women. As per your interpretation, does that mean that only wives should adorn themselves with respectable apparel with modesty and self-control and only wives should do the good works?

I’m not sure if women preachers are allowed in most churches, but I do know that they are allowed in jail.  I know, because I’m there every week giving a couple of cold water (refreshing truth) in Jesus’ Name…

I’m not sure if women preachers are allowed in most churches, but I do know that they are allowed in jail because I’m there each week giving a “cup of cold water” (refreshing truth) in Jesus’ Name.  Those who are dehydrated & parched don’t care who hands them the cup…

    Just a quick trivia:

Paul was addressing issues in the Corinthian church when he wrote his epistles to them. One of those issues concerned a few women causing disturbances during church services. They used to talk loud and cause distractions within the church. Paul is just specifically addressing that in the context of ‘discipline’. He is not formulating any particular ‘law’ prohibiting women to be completely silent in church.

    Good Post!
