Devotion Unto Death

With the pollutions of this world, distractions by technology and adulteration of heart, we live lives not being able to hear from God. Because hearing from God requires active participation from man.

Consider the angel who was already empowering Elijah with bread asked him to climb up the mountain before he heard from God.

Devotion Unto Death

Moses had to withdraw to the tent of meeting which was pitched intentionally far away from the camp.

Jesus repeatedly waited till crowds left and disciples slept, before He withdrew early in the morning – while it was still dark – to seek the Lord.

Practically speaking, it is still possible to hear from God on this earth in this time, provided that we learn to filter the distractions of the world. Continual pursuit of God’s will must go together with continual pursuing God in prayer. The more you hear from God; the more we must surrender to His will.

The Devotion:

One of the greatest secrets of the disciples was that they were devoted to seeking God. Devotion means: (devote something to) give all or a large part of one’s time or resources to (a person, activity, or cause). Not just an hour, but days together; they just came together, sang songs, worshipped, listened to the teachings of the apostles and prayed. Acts 2:42.

Pursue the Lord Jesus till every emotion, feeling, thought, word and action in you is sanctified by the blood of Jesus! And let it be so unto death that there is nothing of you left and it is all of Jesus through you.

Remember, the Scripture says, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7

In that discipline of seeking God’s will through the Word of God and seeking God’s hand in prayer every day and throughout the day, we will then begin to hear His voice clearer and clearer.

Let there not be a day that passes by without having to wait in His presence to synchronize your heart with His heart. God will then honour your pursuit of His will by speaking loud and clear to you. Have you then spent your time with the Lord today?

Don’t wait. Let go of everything and seek Him! For this is His will and He is drawing you now!

God bless.

What keeps you from hearing His voice? What do you do to stay connected to the Father?

chumma spend time in his presence and dont even bother asking Him anything . As the day unfolds, you will find that someone has already tied the loose ends and you are somehow walking on track . isnt that awesome . He comes in and takes over !!

Such a simple solution…knowing “the person of Christ” is all that really matters! in an age of instant everything, spending time (in God’s presence) seems to be so hard to achieve…a much needed, good eye opener, esply. to the new generation of instants!

May be its hard cos the enemy fights that the most knowing that’s the biggest key to walking with God.

    PRAISE THE LORD!!! Brother…
for me,i think it is my impatience to wait to hear the voice of GOD….be it bible reading or prayer,i have not waited upon the LORD to listen to what HE has to say to me….this thing about not waiting to hear HIM pains me a lot, because i love HIM like anything…my prayer has always been a one way conversation… i have had many sweet experience of hearing the guidance of the HOLY SPIRIT till this day telling “this is the way, walk in it” or “do this” or “dont do this”…..but i have not waited upon the LORD to hear HIM speak to me in my bible reading time or prayer time…
Now that i am able to read one chapter from the bible by GOD’s Grace, (by hiding it,since i am the only person saved) i long so much to hear HIS voice and have that Bridal Intimacy with HIM….i am not able to spend separate time for HIM in prayer alone…but i know that a day will come when i will worship and serve my FATHER with my family..Amen.
Please pray for me to hear the voice of GOD and walk with HIM in HIS ways…

Wonderful post!!!  how important it is to shut ourselves out from everything and just bask in that Presence - not just a once-and-for-all thing but continually, on a daily basis.

I recall how the mum of the Wesleys once said that she really had a brood of children and a small house and there was so much to do attending to the ministry, kids, household chores etc., but she made it a point every day to just throw her apron that she was wearing over her head, shut herself off from all else and spend time with the Lord on a one on one basis.

As you have rightly said, let there not be a day that passes by without having to wait in His Presence.
