2 Timothy 2:22 commands us to flee from sin.

Some confuse resisting the devil to resisting sin. It never works.

Sin is not debatable, non-negotiable and not open for reasoning.

Fleeing is the key.

Flee sin and resist the devil.

However for some of us, fleeing has not helped either. Fleeing has been momentary only to realize after a while that you find yourself in front of your sin again.

What went wrong?

The mistake is that you did not follow through to the second and the third part of the same verse.

Part B talks about fleeing sin and then pursuing the things of the above.

flee from sin to GodIf we do not persist to pursue God, we will then slip into the hands of a very persistent enemy.

Emotions that are not tamed by the Holy Spirit through continual pursuit of God are like time bombs waiting to explode. Surrender all your emotions to Jesus.

Your pursuit of God should be beyond a ritual. Pursuit for the sake of good returns is not based on true love.

As you flee from sin – flee into the arms of God. And staying there is the only way that we are safe from sin.

And two more things you should do:

1. When you stay there in the arms of God, don’t depend on your feelings to know God loves you. Know that for a fact, irrespective of the lies the enemy tells you, that you are His beloved. Read more about it here.

2. The only power you have is the power that comes from depending on the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. Sin does not stand a chance against the power that comes through abiding in the Words of Christ, which is the Christ. Read more about it here.

In short, fleeing sin is only complete as you pursue Jesus.

Daily fleeing sin will be only as fruitful as you pursue Jesus daily!

Happy fleeing sin and pursuing Jesus!

Blessed post!. Very important to have a covenant relationship with the Lord and renew the commitment every day, soak in His word and prayer and at all times praying in the Spirit so as never to keep the mind idle.
In our daily lives, whether in our work spot or even in our surroundings, temptations come in very attractive packages, but as rightly pointed out above, the best thing to do is flee and run as fast as we can into the loving arms of God.

How true!!! How true!!! My mom was giving instructions to my brother over the phone. “Make sure you water the plants daily…. if you miss even a single day, the scorching sun will dry up the plants”…… A couple of days of break from God’s word and sin begins to grab us…Surely, being attached to the vine is an everyday thing. Lovely post brother!!! :)
